Our Robust Fiber Optic Technologies:

  • Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG)

A Bragg grating is an optical filter which reflects a specific wavelength transmitted through the fiber. The Bragg grating reacts to pressure, strain and temperature by modifying the wavelength reflected, which allows them to be measured. Cementys ,manufactures FBG sensors that acurately measure Temperature, Displacement Strain, Pressure, Acceleration and Tilt. Our PressioLux DH® PT gauges are particularly ,adapted for High Pressure and High Temperature Downhole applications (570°F, 15000PSI).

  • Distributed Sensors for Temperature (DTS), Strain (DSS), Pressure (DPS), Acoustics (DAS) and Vibration (DVS)

Distributed Sensing systems use a passive optical fiber cable as the sensing (element. Based on the Raman (DTS), Brillouin (DSS, DPS) or Rayleigh (DAS, DVS scattering, the optical fiber itself acts as a sensor. A monochromatic light is propagated through the fiber. The light is back-scattered to the transmission end so that temperature, strain, pressure and vibration is measured every foot over miles.

Structural Integrity Monitoring Solutions

Our cost-effective solutions use Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors to measure the strain and acceleration response of platforms/FPSOs to the wave motion.

Our FBG sensors confirm structural integrity after events such as hurricanes or a prolonged operation time (ageing monitoring).

Load Monitoring of mooring chains and turrets

StrainLux® FBG sensors measure the tension for the mooring lines of the Rvessel or buoy (CALM, SPM) to prevent their fatigue failure. StrainLux allows real-time monitoring for remote structures through GSM – satellite communication with very low power.

Tank monitoring and Leak Detection

Using our DTS system (Distributed Temperature Sensing), it is possible to instantaneously detect leak. Safety and alert management are improved. This system accurately measures over long distance and is perfectly suited to be used in cryogenic temperatures.

Due to the important temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the tank, a potential leak is easily and quickly identified.

DTS can be used to monitor the heating system on the base slab and ensure its efficiency.

The interrogators are placed far away from the tank and the base slab to be compliant with the highest safety requirements.

Cementys provides custom sensors to monitor structural integrity of walls or racks (displacement sensor, inclinometer, extensometer) qualified to low temperature (-290°F).


Pipeline Monitoring

Leak Detection System can be implemented to measure pipeline cooldown during LNG carrier load-out. Leak spot or insulation problems can be detected and localized.

Subsea Umbilicals, Riser and Flowlines (SURF) Monitoring

SURF can withstand high loads at installation and during the service life operation. Specifically, Risers are subject to Vortex Induced Vibration (VIV) due to ocean current flow. On the touch-down zone, the riser endures high mechanical stress that can be easily measured using Cementys DSS solutions (Distributed Strain Sensing) .VIVs can also be monitored using this technology.

Our DSS solutions allow our clients to prevent fatigue failure and increase service life while avoiding hydrocarbon spillage. Real-time measurement directly transmitted to the control room creates a high added value fatigue monitoring system. Leakage is easily monitored and alarms can be implemented to inform the operator.

Cementys DTS and DSS solutions are easily installable and deployable on both operating and new lines.

Mooring chain

Mooring chains withstand very high distributed loads throughout. Cementys DSS solutions monitor the strain all
along the chain to prevent any failure from occurring.

Onshore and Subsea Pipeline Monitoring

Onshore pipelines are monitored to follow any leakage or damage due to external event (construction work, theft, third part intrusion lateral buckling). Optical fiber is a cost effective and reliable system that can be implemented on very long distances.

Oil reservoir are harsh environment for sensors. Downhole equipment is required to withstand high temperature, pressure, moisture and corrosion. Breakdowns can cause delays and high costs.

Optical Fiber is perfectly suited for this demanding application. While withstanding HT/HP, optical fiber provides accurate data, without any drift over time. Optical fiber sensors are passive sensors with no maintenance.

Cementys’ distributed downhole solutions are DTS, DPS and DSS, to measure temperature pressure and strain, from the wellhead to the bottom of the production casing. From this information, Cementys provides you the cement-to-casing bonding integrity, or in-situ cementing integrity leak.
